Table Talk

I was up around 8am one morning because I had to do some errands. I didn’t feel like having bread with peanut butter again so I decided to pay a visit to Table Talk in Taman Tun. Believe it or not, this café actually opens for breakfast from 7.30am to 11.30am. Apart from McDonald’s, don’t think you can find many cafes opening that early!

After poring over the breakfast menu, I ordered the petite pancakes which were served with sliced strawberries, bananas and orange segments. The small pancakes looked deceiving because I couldn’t finish the entire plate as the portion was actually quite huge. The pancakes were not bad and not overly sweet despite the ruby red fruit coulis. If the pancakes were slightly lighter and fluffier, that would have been perfect. Pancake batter usually has to be whisked really well for the air to make it lighter. I can’t stand pancakes that are too dense and heavy. Speaking of which, if I really want pancakes on the go, I guess there’s always Mcdonald’s with their hotcakes and maple syrup. They may not be the best if you want to compare them with established outlets such as Pancake Parlour in Australia or the Paddington House of Pancakes but that’s what you get for instant convenience. Till today, I have no idea why McDonald’s calls them hotcakes instead of pancakes!

Other items on their breakfast menu are the Eggs Benedict, Omelette, Baked Egg with Cheese, Turkey Ham & Egg Sandwich, Fruity Cereal and of course, a classic Butter Croissant Roll. They even have Rosti which is panfried grated potato patties served with sausages and gravy. The Ultimate Brekkie at RM18 comprises of two farm eggs, turkey ham, sausages, baked beans, rosti, lightly sautéed greens and wholemeal toast.

The café also serves a 2-course set lunch with a drink on weekdays from 11.30am to 3pm. Browsing through the lunch menu, the starters were mostly either soups or salads. For mains, you can either try Prawns Marinara Spaghetti, Grilled Chicken with Creamy Black Pepper Sauce, Chicken Lasagna, Chicken & Ham Spaghetti in Creamy Carbonara Sauce and Panfried Fish Fillets in Spicy Tomato Sauce.

Till next time, I’ll be hunting for another new breakfast venue!
