My friend Irene and her husband Sunny decided to throw a fabulous pirate-themed birthday party for their son’s first birthday! It really reminded me of the Jake and the Neverland Pirates cartoon which I watch almost everyday on Disney Junior with Sarah! The party was held at Nando’s at Jaya One which was a nice choice with the delicious spread of their signature peri-peri chicken and appetizing side dishes. The Nando’s giant chicken mascot was also walking around, feathers and all to entertain guests! Thankfully, no kid screamed their head off when they saw it.
I really liked the backdrop set-up too whereby vibrant photos of Jakob were hung from the top, marking each cute milestone. Pirate props were placed everywhere on the table which provided great photo ops. There were even sweet, sugary and colourful piratey cupcakes that caught the attention of all the adults and kids. The icing was sinfully sweet and creamy and there was also a tub of soft, chewy marshmallows. The main attraction was probably the giant pirate cake with a red bandanna that winked playfully at guests with his tongue sticking out.
Everybody also had attractive door gifts filled with sweets and a pirate cartoon as a magnet which is still on my fridge! A lot of effort was definitely put into this birthday bash! I liked the photobook too with Jakob as a newborn as its cover photo. How fast he has grown! Both sides of the family were there to celebrate this joyous occasion too and it was obvious that everybody loved the kid to pieces. Jakob was also surrounded by other toddlers which I’m sure will grow up to be his good friends in future! It was a truly fun party and kudos to Irene and Sunny for taking the time and effort to plan a fabulous 1st birthday party for Jakob!
